Flying Henry

Rachel Hulin's "Flying Henry" photographic series was inspired by her 6-month-old son Henry's joy at being held aloft and sailed around the room. Noticing how he seemed caught up in his own world during these moments, Hulin began formally photographing him—often using a timer while she or her husband held him overhead—then digitally removing the adults to create the illusion of magical flight.

Hulin produced a children's book that nearly sold out its first printing. "Flying Henry" gained widespread popularity with features in Time Magazine, The Huffington Post, CBS News, ABC News, CNN, Oprah.com, and "The Today Show," among others.
